Coombe Lodge Wedding Photography

Matt & Kate

As a busy Somerset wedding photographer, I’m lucky enough to frequently capture wedding photography at Coombe Lodge.  Katherine and Matthew chose the perfect venue for their romantic summer wedding.

I love shooting Coombe Lodge wedding photography, this stunning country house with immaculate gardens is situated on the edge of the Mendip Hills and enjoys spectacular views across Blagdon Lake.  It’s a real favourite with us Somerset wedding photographers.

On the day, I got there early and caught up with Katherine who was getting ready in Coombe Lodge’s beautiful bridal suite.   She was in the safe hands of hair stylist Stacey Jade and makeup artist Sally Bracey, along with her bridal party who supplied the chatter, laughs and bubbly.  There was a lovely moment where Katherine gave her bridesmaids, her mum and Matthew’s mum matching robles and special keepsakes.

I also had a chance to catch up with the boys who were getting ready in a different suite in Coombe Lodge and get a few images of them as well.

Katherine looked amazing in her Suzanne Neville dress that she bought from Waxflower Bridal.  The bodiced dress elegantly skimmed her shape and gently fanned out at the bottom, teamed with a full-length veil, it gave Katherine an exquisite silhouette in all of my images.   Katherine absolutely beamed all day.

Bridesmaids wore lovely sage green dresses from ASOS.  Now I must mention the boys.  Matthew and his groom’s party all looked very smart in petrol blue three-piece suits with brown brogues that they got from Dyfed Menswear.

The wedding ceremony was held in The Billiard Room, this beautiful room has an oak floor, chandeliered ceiling and feature fireplace.  Katherine and Matthew took their vows by a stunning feature bay window that floods the space with tons of natural light, that I was able to use to create even more beautiful images.   After a gorgeous ceremony that included a reading from bridesmaid Jenine, there was a fun confetti moment in the courtyard that I captured perfectly.

After which everybody enjoyed elegant canapes and drinks reception in the gardens to musical accompaniment from a string quartet.  There were also some fun gardens games for the young, and not so young to enjoy.  It was a great chance to take some candid images of Katherine and Matthew’s guests enjoying themselves.

The wedding breakfast was held in The Music Room.  A stunning room with beautiful oak floor and doors, a feature fireplace, a chandeliered ceiling and French doors that open out onto the garden and the stunning views beyond.  The room had been dressed beautifully.  I should at this point give a shout out to the team at The Rose Shed who did the flowers on the day, they looked amazing.

Now, I always love little details of weddings as they tell me something of my couple’s personalities.  Katherine and Matthew got engaged in Rome, so in the table plan, named the tables after places in the city they enjoyed visiting.  It was a lovely touch.

Katherine and Matthew were rapturously welcomed into their wedding reception by their guests before everybody enjoyed a sumptuous meal prepared by the talented chefs at Coombe Lodge.

Storytelling wedding photography at Coombe Lodge

After dinner, there were some lovely and well-received speeches.  As guests happily milled around, I took my chance to capture some group images of the wedding party in the gardens.  I got a great mix of formal and candid images that I know Katherine and Andrew are thrilled with.

Evening celebrations started with the cutting of a gorgeous three-tiered naked wedding cake made by the Rosie Shaw Cake Company.

Katherine and Matthew were keen to have some romantic sunset images.  So, I quickly whisked them outside into the gardens and got some amazing images that were amongst my favourites of the day.

As the sun went down the party really started and I was delighted to capture much merriment on the dancefloor and the Wedding Players DJ was right there to make sure it stayed that way all night.  There was a fun photobooth (who doesn’t love a photobooth) and the evening celebrations ended with a fun sparkler serenade.

I love sparklers at weddings as they make for amazing images.  Take a look at this image of Katherine and Matthew in their sparkler serenade.  It was the perfect image to close the story of their lovely wedding day.

An elegant and fun wedding at a beautiful wedding venue.  Congratulations to Katherine and Matthew for getting married and creating such an amazing wedding day.
